Somewhere in Between

The Buschs spent this weekend, "some where in between" mushing/ski and kayak season, Winter and Spring, and the mountains and the prairies. If you drive over the Bearcreek Hill, past Belfry, and head for Wyoming you will find "somewhere in between" the Beartooths Mountains and the Wyoming prairies.  At first glance this area, which lies in the rain shadow of the Beartooths seems likes an endless, snake-invested, desert covered in sagebrush and cacti
but if you look closer in has its own beauty.

Celebrating my MOD

Last year one of Kim's students gave her a MOD (Mother of Dogs) present the Mondy after human Mother's Day. It really seemed to be a "big deal". Who know?
Very rarely does she take the time to make sure a present is at her MOM's house on the first Sunday of May. I know that doesn't mean she doesn't love and appreciate all her MOM has done for her over the last 41 plus years.  Kim just really struggles with buying presents just because of the date on the calendar. She prefers to just buy the "perfect" present when it shows up. Now most people would do that and just take the present out and send it on the occasion that requires a present. Not Kim! She either can't remember where she put the present or that she even bought the present. I am not sure Kim's family has caught on to her technique. She is not much of a shopper so finding the perfect present doesn't happen on a weekly or monthly basis. Her family seems to be pretty understanding, just accepts a phone call, and acts like that is enough.
Well, MOD's Day is just around the corner so the sled dogs and I have been trying to figure out what we should do for our MOD. We really do love and appreciate her. I love that she is my running partner and I get to go when the sled dogs DO NOT. Puppy loves that she will hold him on her lap and cuddle. (He is not really a lapdog.) Lucy loves that Kim continues to forget to put her good boots and Smartwool  up high. Walla loves that Kim will scratch her bum and behind her ears,  and  sometimes gives her extra food. (Don't tell Bryan) We love that she CAN carry 40lb bags of dog food (unlike you know who). We LOVE that she doesn't always follow all the "rules" which leads to opportunities to do what we want or be "bad".
Most of all we love her because she's our MOD!

The sled dogs and I have still trying to find the "perfect" gift. I hear Kim mention that she could use a new Pooper Scooper and she really wants so new "cute" mud boots.  Who knows maybe we will get her both.
Happy Mother's Day to all MOMs on Sunday
and
remember to celebrate Mother of Dogs' Day on Monday!
